A Christmas Nap!

Elite's first Christmas in a home was so exciting but a bit overwhelming! Plus all the hounds lost out on their morning nap. Now it's time for Elite and Heart to catch up on that lost sleep!

Christmas Stuffies

Elite isn't quite sure about all these new stuffies showing up on Christmas morning. Right now he's just going to lay here and think about all of this!

Christmas Morning for Elite

I'm sure Christmas morning was a bit overwhelming for Elite. All of a sudden those pretty presents that have been sitting under the tree were being torn into like crazy and no one was being scolded for destroying these things! Elite finally took his present from me and set it down to look at it as if he wasn't sure if he was allowed to tear into it too. Well I guess he was taking too long thinking about it so our Heart dove in there and showed Elite how it's done.

Now if he wasn't confused before all this, I'm sure he was afterwards. I mean MORE stuffies?? Weren't there enough already in this house? He hasn't really caught on to this stuffie thing. He just needs time to get use to his people and surroundings. Elite loves to be part of the action but he wants to do it at his own pace. Life outside of the kennel can be so overwhelming! But he is getting more at ease everyday. He seems to really enjoy having other greyhounds around to help him learn about life in a home. As far as stuffies go, well... he'll carry them around very gently and set them down around him. I'm sure any day now he'll get more active with them.

Elite's Holiday

Posted for Judy & Harley Hazzard (owned by Turtle and Heart)...

“Elite” is staying with us this week while his foster folks are out of town. He is such a sweet boy, gets along greyt with our hounds and is very good with our 3 kitties.

Elite just loves to spend time outdoors. I think if he had his way he’d be out there all day long! He loves to be petted and if any of the other critters are getting attention he comes right over to get his share of attention too. But he isn’t pushy at all. He crates up easily, sleeps all night long and hasn’t had any potty accidents in the house. He can be scared of strangers, but once he knows you he is right by your side. He comes when you call him which is something that my two hounds need to learn from him!

I think Elite’s dream is to have Santa find him a loving home, with a soft bed and some stuffies for Christmas!

Stuffies

Elite has finally discovered stuffies. He is now carrying them around and pouncing on them. He likes to stick his butt in the air and pin the stuffie down with his front paws. Then he tosses it into the air. Repeat. He is having a lot of fun now that he has figured out they are toys to play with.

Elite Dream

Elite had been with us since October 27 and he is so easy to take care of. He loves his crate and his mealtimes. He cleans his bowl every time. He and the Barkley the cat sometimes sleep on the same bed. Elite loves playing in our fenced yard with our Sheltie Dante. He is the first one out the back door to run around. Last week he began carrying stuffies around. He was proud of himself.

He does not seem to mind the cold, unlike other greyhounds we have had. I tried covering him up Thursday night at bed time, but he quickly got up and slept on top of the blanket. He knows his name and comes quickly when called.

Elite loves animals but is shy around people he doesn't know. He is scared of sudden movements. He will come and lay his head in my lap when I am on the computer or watching tv, but he is easily startled. He prefers a quiet home.

Today was his second home visit. Maybe next Saturday will be "the day."
